"She is out of surgery and doing well!! Apparently, the ASD was bigger than they originally thought and the VSD looked smaller. No big deal, it was all fixable! Dr. O'brian said it all went great. She was really not on the bypass as long as they expected. This can cause the little ones to become swollen and result in an open chest after surgery. We were all prepared for that, but her swelling was minimal so they could go ahead and close her chest. In addition, her organs are continuing to work well. She is having good urine output. The doctor wants to go ahead and let her sleep the rest of the day and then start working her off the ventilator tomorrow. Originally, we were told that it might be a couple of days before they would start weaning her off of the ventilator so, tomorrow is sooner than we originally thought! It could still a few days to get her off the vent. We just have to wait and see how she handles that. If she can stay stable as they lower and allow her to start to breath on her own then that will indicate if she is ready to be without. Once she is off the vent, then we can start to wean her off her iv's. In the meantime, she is back in her room. They are getting her all cleaned up and situated and still need to do lots of monitoring and assessing. They told me that in about an hour Wyatt and I can go back and be with her."
I will update again when I hear more!
