Miss Ella is still patiently waiting for surgery. I just want to explain quickly the reason why she has not had it yet. All cardiac postoperative babies go to the PICU or pediatric intensive care unit. This is because it is easier for the cardiac doctors to check in on her there and also because right after surgery she will have a nurse that stays with her constantly instead of having to share with another patient. This allows for constant monitoring. Once Ella is ready and stable she will either be moved back up to the intensive care nursery or out to an inpatient room. This is dependent on her ability to feed and gain weight. Ella is ready to go to surgery. Unfortunately, so has many other patients. Also, the PICU has been filled to capacity meaning there is just not the space to put her into. We are very hopeful that this will be her week. She is ready and strong enough. She is almost 2 months old and we are ALL ready to get her home (as long as she is healthy).
I ask that you please continue to pray that Ella is able to get her turn in the OR very soon so that she can get well. I also ask you to say a few extra prayers for all the children at Children's Mercy that they are able to also gain better health and join their families.
